#SHAREDSTORIES

Celebrate the past: look to the future

Raise a glass with us to mark the close of the #SharedStories exhibition (& final weekend of BCB) at an informal finale evening reception. Visitors will have a final opportunity to explore an eclectic mix of historic & contemporary tiles & exquisite (re)drawings exhibited in a traditional ceramic tile works; one of the city’s hidden historic gems!

This exciting exhibition has been created and curated by artists Danny Callaghan (Ceramic City Stories, Stoke-on-Trent) and Craig Peebles (Welby & Wright, Edinburgh). It reflects a two-year creative collaboration driven by a shared love for tiles and architectural ceramics. Guests will be able to meet and chat with the two artists during the event.

Artist Ruth Impey (Glasgow) will also be present & has contributed an additional display telling the story of Scotland’s forgotten industrial potteries (50 Pots). Contemporary work will also feature including ‘Glasgow Smogware’ & ‘Beithir’ mosaic tiles from Stockingfield Bridge made in partnership with artist Louise Nolan (Make It Glasgow).

Visitors will also have a last opportunity to glimpse behind the scenes of The Firing Line, a manufacturer that still produces ‘dust press’ tiles using 100 year old technology and traditional techniques.
