Sculptor Arnold Machin produced the iconic ‘Queen’s Head' stamp. He was born & lived in Stoke-on-Trent & Staffordshire. He worked at Minton during his early years & later had strong connections with Wedgwood.
This informal walk & talk will offer an introduction to Arnold Machin’s life & explore his local roots & life long connection with Stoke-on-Trent & Staffordshire. We will walk in his footsteps along London Road (Stoke) between Stoke School of Art & The Villas, a route & area he knew so well. The stroll will be led by Danny Callaghan (Ceramic City Stories) & Andy Perkin (Potteries Heritage Society). You will find out a bit more about this creative giant & his local connections. We welcome any additional knowledge or interesting comments you can share about Machin. We hope you can join us! FREE
Please gather from 10:15am; walk will set off at 10:30am prompt. The return walk is just over 1 mile (from Stoke School of Art to The Villas & back to Stoke School of Art). There is 2 hr FREE PARKING at Sainsburys for those who need it.
Booking is not required, just turn up on the day but it will help us to know if you plan to join us. Please let us know if you can: email hello@ceramiccitystories.info or call Danny 07999 350176
